The Production Team includes Kateland Goldsborough (Stage Manager) Brian Grace-Duff and Bill McIlhenny (Set Design) Christiana Molldrem (Lighting) and James Jackson (Sound) Hugging The Shoulder by Jerrod Bogard continues our "Under Construction" theme by breaking down and re-building the motives and thoughts of these characters. An intense, 90-minute play centering on a young man who kidnaps his older brother and takes him on a grueling road trip to conquer his heroin addiction. Mile after mile their relationship is stretched to the limit as the two brothers' repressed memories and hidden motivations are mercilessly exposed. Hugging the Shoulder is a play about the tragedy of missed opportunities. It explores the relationship between addiction and love, and is a plea for us to do what sometimes is the hardest thing of all: to forgive ourselves. "Original, moving, and worth its weight in gold." -- SoCal.com
"Bogard artfully juxtaposes noble needs such as love and security with baser cravings,"
-- showmag.com
Bogard's intelligently observed voice makes him a welcome addition to the panoply of American playwrights, and certainly one to keep an eye on.
